ANOTHER VIEW
You looked at you, turned to your bags
and said, “We’re going home.” It’s not a future
that we should somehow turn back to our history.
It’s a flair, an army biscuit he had been given
in the darkness: silent, vanished by the view
of a man we should punish.
It’s a world the others
never forget, because there’s another view
that the others never saw. A future we have to accept.
And there’s another view
that the dusk is invisible.
