I HOPE IT’S NOT LONG

It’s a lonely road
sometimes, waiting for the rain
to clear away. Life moves on
for everyone—more sadness than we expected
for some, happiness for others.
It doesn’t stay frozen in time.
I sit alone in this quiet room, watching the world
go by, and every day it’s a different world—
everyone on different paths
to one single future.

There is silence
because there are too many other people
in this crowded room. We are
still trying to figure out if this is how
it should be. Will our silence
make this gorge that needs to be crossed wider,
or is this just how our earth
is mapped out? Is this how you and I
will find peace, find our way
to the future?
