More often than I would like, it happens
by daylight, rather than by living room light.
But the ritual must still have some freshness
every day, to keep you coming back—
there must be upheavals, to keep you
clinging to the golden thread.
Nothing else around you
stays the same either—there is peace and prosperity,
there is betrayal and abandonment.
One day I will no longer
be a prisoner of any of these.
